The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University

The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. The Landscape Institute of the Arnold Arboretum is the current embodiment of that lineage of landscape education programs.  The Landscape Design Program was created in 1968 at Radcliffe College to give individuals a broader understanding of the complex forces that shape the environment.  All disciplines pursued by our students and graduates are centered on the art that gives direct physical expression to the relationships among individuals, society, and the landscape.

Landscape Design Council

Landscape Design Council.  Organized in 1963, the Landscape Design Council (LDC) of Massachusetts operates under the auspices of National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) and is a special-subjects group of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. The purpose of LDC is to provide ongoing landscape-design education through speakers, workshops, and tours of outstanding public and private areas. The Massachusetts chapter is the largest Council in the US. It provides several judging panels for the New England Spring Flower Show and presents three awards.

Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist.  The Massachusetts Nursery & Landscape Association confers the title “Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist” on individuals who have demonstrated a high level of competence by passing a comprehensive examination, and by fulfilling prescribed standards of performance and conduct.

A "Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist" subscribes to a code of ethics which promotes high ethical standards, increased professional skills, and continuing education in the field of horticulture.
