JENNIFER NAWADA EVANS, Design Associate, has been a professional landscape
designer since 2001. Jennifer joined Bonnie Ulin,Inc. after four years of
working at Weston Nurseries in their landscape design department. Prior to
joining the design department at Weston Nurseries, Jennifer worked as an
environmental education instructor at Shelburne Farms, a 1400-acre national
historic site on the shores of Lake Champlain in Shelburne, Vermont and
spent five years working with various garden and landscape design
establishments in the central Vermont area. Jennifer holds a B.A. in
Environmental Studies from Rollins College in 1995 and a Master of Arts
degree in Landscape Design and Land Use Planning from the Conway School of
Landscape Design in 2000. She is inspired to help clients realize the
potential of their land, which can lead to healthier connections between
people and their environments. Encouraged by her passion for nature and
plants she became a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist in 2004.
JOHN BARNO, Design Associate, has been a professional landscape designer
for over twenty years, much of that time in association with Bonnie Ulin,
Inc. Previously, he worked as a soils technician and as a hydrologist for
the U.S.Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management in Montana and Wyoming.
A graduate of Kent State and Humboldt State University with degrees in
Chemistry and Biology, Mr. Barno subsequently matriculated at The Radcliffe
Seminars in Landscape Design and gained further education at the Harvard
Graduate School of Design. His experience includes project management in
both commercial and residential venues. His design work and implementations
are on display at sites throughout many western suburbs, and are in evidence
at Harvard University. Among his many achievements is the ability to design
innovative hardscape, integrating it gracefully and sensitively into the
surrounding landscape. In addition, he has extensive experience in
innovative garden and landscape design, project management, and site
supervision. His knowledge of native trees, shrubs, and perennials assure
clients that his plant selections will skillfully integrate with the
surrounding environment and enhance the residential site.
BARBARA SYDNEY received her master’s degree in communication sciences from Boston University in 1984. Her wide-ranging experience in academia, business, and non-profits has primarily centered on technology in public relations, as well as Information Technology administration and training. As an enthusiastic amateur gardener, she is pleased to have the opportunity to combine her administrative abilities and creative interests now that she has joined Bonnie Ulin, Inc. as the Office Manager.
